Responsibilities and Duties:

As a Test Manager at Cognizant, you will be responsible for various aspects of the testing process. Here is a summary of the key responsibilities and duties:

1) Test Requirement Analysis:

• Create, modify, and review the Master Test Strategy document for large engagements.
• Develop and update Test Estimations, Project/Sprint Planning efforts.
• Leverage previous project experience and learning to enhance requirement analysis.
• Review architecture and design work products using White Box testing techniques and predefined checklists.

2) Test Strategy and Test Planning:

• Create a comprehensive test strategy, including release dates, types of testing, project scope, and risk assessment.
• Gather inputs from clients, development teams, and client managers to ensure alignment.
• Prepare a detailed test plan, covering timelines and resource deployment.
• Seek signoff on the test plan from relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the project/sprint planning team to define goals, review meetings, and identify risks/issues for quicker resolution.
• Seek signoff from customers on the Retrospection Report and Lessons Learned for every release.

3) Test Design Techniques:

• Review test scenarios, test cases, and traceability matrix to ensure complete coverage of requirements.
• Track downtime and report it to the client.
• Support the team and clients in conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Business User Testing (BUT), if applicable.
• Perform sanity testing to ensure system readiness.
• Validate the test environment’s readiness and prepare the test lab for execution.
• Seek signoff from the client at various stages of the testing cycle as required.

4) Coding Practices & Defect Management:

• Possess a holistic view of quality domains, user experience, and various testing techniques (Black box, White box).
• Estimate and commit task-level efforts and deliver activities on time.
• Review defects logged by the team and assign them to the appropriate owners.
• Participate in technical communication by attending architectural and design reviews.
• Support Quality Assurance goals and adhere to customer standards, policies, and governance practices.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the full development lifecycle and actively participate in all phases.
• Collaborate with development teams and architects to identify dependencies and ensure adherence to coding standards, test data dependencies, and environmental requirements.

Test Execution (Automation/Specialized testing)

• Design and implement best-in-class automation frameworks based on the application under test (AUT).
• Review test results and provide clarification to the team during execution.
• Prepare test summary reports and review test results and reports submitted by the test analysts.
• Capture lessons learned and best practices adopted during testing.
• Generate metrics periodically based on the intended audience.
• Review metrics to identify areas for process optimization.
• Create robust test automation scripts.
• Design web services testing frameworks.
• Define, deploy, and monitor metrics configuration as part of DevOps practices.
